Cedar removal in Central Texas
Ashe juniper, the Hill Country's mountain cedar, crowds out grass, soaks up rain and fuels wildfire. We cut it at the base so it doesn't come back, and leave your live oaks and cedar elms standing.

Get your land back from cedar
Left alone, Ashe juniper closes in on open land within a couple of decades. Grass disappears underneath it, far less rain reaches the ground, and every winter it releases the pollen behind cedar fever.
Cedar has one weakness: cut below its lowest green branch, it does not resprout. We take it down at grade and mulch it in place, selectively, so the hardwoods you want to keep have room to thrive.

Cedar Removal questions
Will the cedar grow back?
Cedar cut below its lowest green branch will not resprout from the stump. New seedlings can sprout from seed over the years, so a light follow-up every few years keeps it open.
Do you remove cedar elms too?
No, unless you ask. Cedar elm is a native hardwood, not a juniper, and it's usually one of the trees worth keeping.
Is cedar clearing ever restricted?
On some Hill Country tracts, mature cedar mixed with oaks can be golden-cheeked warbler habitat. If your land might be, we flag it before quoting and plan around the spring nesting season.
Does removing cedar help with allergies?
Cedar fever comes from wind-blown pollen from December to February, so clearing your land won't stop it entirely, but many owners notice less near the house once nearby cedar is gone.
